This is the version of “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” that was supposed to be released on Kendrick Lamar’s (fantastic) major label debut good kid, m.A.A.d. city but somehow got caught up in red tape between his creative team and Lady Gaga’s people.
“The fact is I had to realize the business end of this game. I come from the grind where we put out mixtapes. You ain’t gotta worry about clearances or even deadlines and with that situation, that situation was a deadline situation,” Kendrick said to MTV. “We had to meet these pre-orders. I was frustrated about it. My team was frustrated about it, but at the same time, we had to move forward.”
Lady Gaga also recorded “Partynaseous” with Kendrick, telling fans in a blog post that song will eventually be released also but didn’t make the album because she “was not willing to compromise musically to the changes his team was making to [her] music.”
Move forward they did. good kid, m.A.A.d. city has been among the top albums on iTunes since it was released and even earned an unheard of 9.5 Pitchfork rating.
